How To Translate Your Blog Into Multiple Languages

I found out that it’s broken for WordPress 2.2. Expect the patch soon.

» Posted By Hardono Arifanto On June 4, 2007 @ 05:20

Hi Anuradha,

It’s strange that you experience such error. As myself and Jimmy able to install it without any issues.

May I know which hosting company are you using? Which WordPress version are you using?

» Posted By Hardono Arifanto On June 2, 2007 @ 14:49

Hi Cesar.

Actually there are other kinds of manual translation (you need to write your posts in two or more languages).

If you know other free translation service which provide better translation compared to Google Translate/Altavista BabelFish, please share it with us. I will incorporate it here.

How Deus Ex Machina Ruined Spider-Man 3

@ bro mca: hehe.. I believe to make a good sci-fi/magic movie we must be consistent whether we it’s a sci-fi or magic. Without trying to cross over between them. I consider the sand-man magic (^_^)/ If your atomic composition totally changed from blood bones and flesh into sand, you’ll be dead, period. That’s why we have cremation (^_^)

Reminds me of other movie, Fantastic Four. I forgot the exact line, but I remember Mr. Fantastic saying ‘Chemistry 101…’. Well Mr. Fantastic, in ‘Biology 101’ you’ll be dead when your body turns into rocks/flames/invisible/stretchable… (T_T)

@Patrick Ross:Interesting insight. I hope Peter Parker tied the knot to Ursula. She seems capable of being a good housewife. Thus, Peter can concentrate on busting bad guys. No more drama at home (^_^)/

My friend Artha actually wrote a better view about the movie. Check it out at http://planethelicon.blogspot.com/2007/05/spider-man-3.html

Working in A Niche Industry

@mca: None taken bro (^_^)/ I share your view of sticking to C#/Java since they are closely similar.

I think what important (if not the most) is our exposure to a certain industry like Finance/Banking. This way our knowledge is not only limited on coding, but also on the architecture-how things get done on that particular industry.

How To Setup VPN In Your Office and Access It From Home.

Hi Jeremy,

Could you configure the VPN server to use DHCP when assigning the IP/DNS/Gateway information to the VPN Client ?

As long as your VPN Client PC receive the same network information as any PC that is physically connected to your network, you should be able to connect to the rest of the computers in your office network.

haha… i really sound like a kiss-ass doesn’t it? But seriously, it feels different when you work for a company that doesn’t do everything for profit/pleasing shareholders.

This is Why Blog Should Not Be Used As Diary Replacement

@Petra: Indeed. I’ve read somewhere that your blog posts should make people either love you, or hate you. Writing somewhere in between will make it a rather forgettable posts.

» Posted By Hardono Arifanto On May 12, 2007 @ 15:23

I guess blogging is the new definition of ‘Thinking out loud’. But if your blog is really offensive, make sure sure you live in a country that protect your freedom of speech, like US for example.

I believe in Singapore, you can’t really blatantly offensive and rude in your blog. Racism and dissent is a serious offence here. So be careful with your blog posts (^_^)

Personally I think being offensive and rude will not resulting in an healthy discussion. It will only make everyone defensive and close-minded.

How To Kill MS Excel Process Started by ASP.NET

@Adam: Cool trick 🙂

» Posted By Hardono Arifanto On January 14, 2009 @ 21:53

@Ata: Cheers mate! 🙂

It is interesting to note that the previous Excel version (we tested it on Office 2003) a new Excel.Exe process will be created everytime we open a document.

But in Office 2007, only one Excel.Exe exists in the memory. No matter how many documents you open.

How to Improve Singapore Parliament’s Website

I can’t find the webmaster’s contact in the website, thus I rant about it here (^_^)v

Singapore Government will spend almost USD$1 Billion on IT

I believe you’re referring to Income Tax =) I don’t see that our Income tax is going to be increased. But GST is now 7% =)

» Posted By Hardono Arifanto On May 1, 2007 @ 04:56

I read the Strait Times on the other day, it’s said that one of the purpose of the IT upgrade is to make sure informations like maps, which hotel to stay, which food court is recommended is easily available to tourists/visitors.

As for the Singaporeans, one that I can immediately think of is the recent grant to schools to enable them to purchase Computers and hire in-house IT Trainer. For the rest, we pay higher tax =P

Linkin’

Other means perhaps?

» Posted By Hardono Arifanto On December 26, 2007 @ 02:16

@Rob: Because I’ve read somewhere that Google restricts the number of a hyperlinks in a page to a maximum 50 or something. If you exceed that, you might get penalty (which I don’t know about, lower page rank maybe?)

This is Why United States Should Implement Gun Control Law

Hi Andy,
I wonder whether we can apply the same logic of Gun Ownership with something more lethal, say nuclear weapons.

Wouldn’t be great if all countries have nukes? God, I love to live in such place everyone is mutated by radioactive waste =P

» Posted By Hardono Arifanto On April 27, 2007 @ 04:39

Hi corvidae, that’s interesting. USA is so huge compared to Singapore (^_^)

To control the gun, basically Countries in this world need to make an agreement/treaty to outlaws gun. Keep the guns for the military personnel/SWAT. If you can’t control the distribution, control the production.

For the public, give them TASER gun.

» Posted By Hardono Arifanto On April 27, 2007 @ 04:37

But if we take out the gun from the equation, would the number of casualties/innocent souls will be reduced?

If a depressed/suicidal guy run amok with a M16 in a public crowded space, how many people would die before someone put a bullet in the perpetrators head?

Now consider if the same guy run amok with a dagger/sword/ chainsaw ? The probability of people outrun the perpetrator is much higher. I mean, can you outrun bullets?
