Their computers are having problem again. Jessie said that her PC unable to connect to JDE and MS Word behaves strangely. After questioned her a few questions, i found out that her PC has just replaced from old system. Mosheed only transferred the HD to the new PC. And its my job to clear the mess…

The first thing that i noticed was the missing drivers for her Video Adapter and Sound Card. After sometime spent playing around with her system, i found out that she can’t connect to DHCP server. Damn.. this is quite a problem..

After installed all required drivers, i start probing the network … sigh.. no hope…

After sometime spent nibbling honey-dew and Papaya at canteen, an idea come up in my mind.. although Jessie’s PC unable to get ip from DHCP, but if we assign the IP address manually it might work.

Lo and behold .. it did works… hehehe.. All well ends well eh ??!??

About Hardono

Howdy! I'm Hardono. I am working as a Software Developer. I am working mostly in Windows, dealing with .NET, conversing in C#. But I know a bit of Linux, mainly because I need to keep this blog operational. I've been working in Logistics/Transport industry for more than 11 years.

Since frequently visited Warnet (Warung Internet) or Internet Rental on my secondary school time, i always wanted to open my own. Recently i had discussion with my friend-he’s a good businessman, with good entrepreneurial instinct- about opening business venture in Indonesia. When i mentioned Warnet, he quickly rebuked my idea saying that he already had a discussion and calculation, which concluded that the particular business idea is having very small ROI with a huge TCO. Unfortunately, that time i couldn’t make my argument since i never actually research the ROI and TCO of that business model.

So hopefully for the next few days i’ll carefully research this topic.

Maybe today i’ll try to write about TCO (Total Cost of Ownership)

Initial costs cover the costs to start the business. These costs are:

  • leasing the building
  • buying new hardwares and softwares
  • revamping the building
  • buying furnitures
  • initial advertising.

Operational costs cover the costs to run day to day business. These costs are:

  • Electricity
  • Maintenance
  • Salary
  • Security

Hmm.. while i was pondering about the idea, i went to Wikipedia, realizing that i have so many things to read about corporate finance

I wish i can just download them into my brain like Neo did 🙂

After watching the fireworks at Marina Square, we went down to Clarke Quay. When we saw ‘The Great Singapore Bungy‘ (it’s an attraction where three passenger sat in rollercoaster-like seats and they will be launched into the sky)

My immediate reaction was saying these to Buddy, “Bud, instead of Bungy Jumping which is very expensive, you should go for Banci Jumping, i heard they are giving discounts at Taman Lawang”

note:

  • Banci=Indonesian term for transvestite
  • Taman Lawang=A place found in Jakarta. It is reported that many transvestites offering escorts there.

PS: my apology for being insensitive and offensive, dont worry .. it will happen again
