Winamp, the famous MP3 player

For those of you who is currently managing a Windows 2003 Server (or any server), users upload MP3 files to the company server might poise a possible copyright infringement. If you are, hopefully this ARTICLE will help you do your work.

But please note that it could be possible that user actually upload the whole album in a document archive (zip, rar, ace, etc). So there are ways to work around the prohibition described in that article. So it’s actually a continuous effort from you to prevent users from uploading copyrighted materials into your company server.

I take above approach as the curative approach. The preventive approach should be educating the users in your company about copyright infringements. And always let the users know that whatever they are doing in the company’s servers, they should be responsible to their actions. And don’t forgot to emphasize that “We’re watching you!” (and you may finish it with an evil laugh .. 😛 )

Inflammation caused by diabetes

This research concludes that a bad sleeping habit might expose yourself to diabetes.

So in short, there are two effects of bad sleeping habit to your Diabetes risks:

  1. Direct effect. The research found that the insulin level in your blood is reduced significantly when you didn’t get enough sleep.
  2. Indirect effect. Bad sleeping habit increases your chance of developing obesity. And being obese gives you higher risk to get diabetes

Short summarize of Diabetes taken from Wikipedia:

  1. Diabetes is an illness where the blood sugar level in a body is very high. This high level of blood sugar will cause the body to get easily fatigue, excessive urination, blurred vision, impotence for male, and bad ability in healing wounds (difficulty to stop bleeding).
  2. There are three types of Diabetes, Type 1, Type 2 and Diabetes resulted from pregnancy.
    • Type 1 is characterized by low insulin production caused by the autoimmune destruction of the cells that produce insulin.
    • Type 2 is characterized by insulin resistance by the cells in the body.
    • To some women with certain genetic condition, when they are pregnant, the pregnancy hormone will cause the insulin resistance, symptoms of Type 2 diabetes.

So what should we do to stay healthy and stay away from Diabetes?

  1. Obviously, have a better sleeping habit. Have enough rest every night. Don’t forgot to switch off your light. Sleeping in total darkness will help to beef up your immune system.
  2. Stay fit. Don’t let yourself enjoy the comfort of being overweight, let alone obese.
  3. Stop smoking (hmm.. this is like talking to a mirror … 🙁 )
  4. And don’t forgot to pray … 🙂

Hmm.. this should become a good reason to motivate myself to stop smoking keep on reducing the number of my daily cigarettes consumption (and eventually stop), and kick off that ‘getting fit’ program that has long forgotten delayed by complicated reason.

Happy New Year and stay healthy people!

Last weekend I went to Tanjung Pinang in Bintan Island to visit my cousin. She’s been staying there since 2003 but this will be my first time to visit her (sigh.. what a great cousin I am :-(). She’s staying there with her husband which is working in the Airbase in that town.

The ferry from Singapore to Tanjung Pinang departs Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal (take MRT to Bedok, and then take SBS Bus No. 35. The bus’s final stop is the ferry terminal). But since I was in hurry, I took a cab. To my dismay, I must waited for 1.5 hours before the ferry arrives. Unlike Singapore to Batam, the ferry frequency for Singapore to Tanjung Pinang is much less. I hope this schedule can help you to plan your travel better (unlike mine :-))

So I met her with her family. They have a very cute daughter (which makes her the cutest niece I have). She is 1.5 years old and tantrum-ridden toddler 😛 Need sometime before I could get along with her. But I think she had recognize me as her uncle 😛 She did cry when I waved goodbye and left for Singapore (which I don’t know whether she cried because her father or me, since my brother-in-law accompanied me going to the harbor)
